Indo-Western Summer Wardrobe

Is the city of joy all about neat workmanship? Well, it is a lot many things like their street food, the warm nature of Kolkatains, the beautiful pandals during Durga Puja and of course, the yellow ambassadors that never seem to stop honking. But with reference to the design industry, I couldn’t help but wonder if this city has more to offer? I wanted to depict a new side of this city’s creativity with my Kolkata design segment.

When you visit the streets of Kolkata, they may bring to you a blend of colors with historic elements like the ghoda gaadi or the vintage ambassadors. The city has a somewhat new artistic approach and yet speaks vintage in various ways. Shooting these looks in the streets of Kolkata itself spoke for the vision of the campaign – deep-rooted artistic Kolkata with a new vision in the designing industry. The outfits portrayed modernity in a simple way.

While few women displayed bananas in the background for effects without being asked and few men stood scratching their butt effortlessly in our frame; the shoot was a lot of fun and well, as the locals call it - This is also Kolkata.

Kolkata based designers have proved that the new trends in fashion industry is also about innovation in fabric. Richa Khemka, a young and enthusiastic designer gives a new dimension to the design industry with her designs in terms of silhouettes, fabric selection and detailed work. Her outfits are light and airy, providing you with the right amount of style edge without a burden on your waist or wallet. What’s great about her collection is that you can mix and match the pieces. You can team them up formally or casually. Versatility in garments is not easy to achieve, and yet each piece of Richa Khemka depicts that, portraying years of experience and deep knowledge of fashion.

Add a styling edge to your outfits this season with minimal accessories. Sleek hair with soft pins can be an added accessory to any outfit (not just western wear). The no-makeup makeup reflects the simplicity that Richa Khemka’s collection portrays. You can notice that the outfits stand out without adding much Jewelry or makeup to it. One shoulder dress in this lime green color not only blends in with the newer neon trend but also adds a modish vibe to the dress. The colourful butterfly belt highlights your waistline perfectly without making you work those longer hours at the gym and completes this perfect summer wedding indo-western look.

All white is one of my favorite looks. Somehow this color manages to stand out in the crowd with its humble nature. I teamed the white on white pearl jacket with overdrowning pallazo’s to add drama. An inner top with a high neckline was added to give the bold effect to this outfit. Though many would shy away from teaming a feather belt with similar work pattern on this heavy work laded jacket, but I think it gave the waistline a definition that held the outfit together.
